Rugby Chapel is built in the style of a typical English parish church, but of wood, not stone. The chapel was partly funded by Rugby School in England. In 1913 the building was expanded from 150 seating to 200, again with the financial help of Rugby School. It is said that much of the building was constructed by Emmanuel college students, with help from local tradesmen.
The Chapel was used as a place of worship until 1966, when it was replaced by St Chad's Chapel. The building standing today very close to College Drive is essentially what was the Chapel of 1913.
